Long Term Residents
There will always be animals that will stay with us till they pass on in old age. Recently some of the rats, russian hamsters and a roboroski were put down, due to old age. We don't have a centre, so all the animals that stay , do so in our homes.
The following are in care
1 Buck, Felix. Felix is our longest resident and has earned his retirement with us. He is not available for rehoming.
3 Does: Black Hooded - part of a litter of 40 taken from the Ellon area. These does are not available for rehoming.
2 bucks: Pip and Beano. Pip has been castrated and has now recovered from his operation. We did not initially think he would reintroduce to his brother Beano but they are now happily settled back together. Were advertised, now staying in care
Out of 40 rats Taken in from the Ellon Area we re-homed 32 into permanent homes. Homes were found for these rats in Glasgow, Falkirk, Montrose, Dundee and Aberdeen.
1 female chinchilla, grey about 2years old. Companion died.
8 golden and Syrian hamsters, ages range from 6 months to 2 years; 5 are all white satin and came from one uplift of 8 hamsters (these poor little guys were going to be snake food).
3 roboroski hamsters (cute, fast little mites) all singular.
1 Russian hamsters, these little guys are very cute but unfortunately not friendly.
Hamsters are one of the animals which come into our care regularly, some came from pet shops that can't sell them however many hamsters are handed in by parents who's kids have been nipped or the novelty has worn off.
1 gerbil (this little one only has one eye) female about 1yr old. Agouti coloured.
4 Rats. 4 bucks, (one pair) and 2 single bucks staying permanently Dude and Al Pachino,
1 elderly guinea pig (nearly 5) Billy has been in care for 3 years. He was 2 when he came in.
Added to our residents 2006
2 guniea pigs, Toffee and Blue, 2 years old. Unwanted, both have had health problems.
2 fifteen year old cats, that were due to be put to sleep, due to owner moving abroad, came in at the weekend 08/09/06
