Think Positive, Be Positive ...
I wanted to write this “as a dog owner myself”. I have noticed, increasingly, how negative we are towards our dogs, owners in the park walking in the street and even on the bus.

The Year Ahead ...
Following an article in the Press and Journal on the 12th of January we have had several calls asking why we are closing down.
I would like to state very clearly, that PAWSS is not closing down and there is no way that PAWSS will close down while there are animals in need of our help.
However, we must be realistic about the facilities and funds that we have to offer and let people know that we are unable, at this time, to take into care cats and dogs. read more...

Dog flea treatments killing cats ...
A recent study has shown that cats are being put at serious risk by owners using off the shelf flea treatments which are designed for dogs
According to the research published by the Veterinary Poisons Information Service (VPIS), part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust "....one in 10 cats reported to the VPIS died, after being exposed to spot-on dog treatments containing the chemical permethrin. ...."

Dangerous Dogs - The Reality ...
Following a savage attack on one of our original rescue dogs, Buster which featured in the Evening Express and other stories concerning savage new acts of brutality involving domestic pets we feel that we must highlight the difference between a dangerous dog and a very dangerous owner.
It is a very sensitive subject which will draw many varied opinions and I am writing this with mixed emotions. As a dog owner myself, who has seen the damage that can be done, I also have the emotional scars from the first campaign waged against rottweilers back in 1989....
