Us at PAWSS have concerns at the future enforcement of dogs on leads at all time-especially dogs at all time part. Having worked with all breed types, behaviour needs etc I have found that off lead training a must in development. I understand the need sfor control of dogs especially in public places. However if restriction are to b e made surely we-the responsible dog owner should have a specific area closed off for dogs to be exercised effectifly, were children do not play?

I also feel strongly, that when a dog is under control on a lead or tied up that children shouldn't be jumping on it or running up to it, I have had to tell kids more than once not to touch my dogs back, yet they insisit, often the parents are laughing as I ask them to control their child! That owner of the Doberman, shouldn't be forced to put her dog down it was under control tied up. Were was the parent of that child?

to me part of the fun of owning a dog is running round field that with ur dog. it took me yrs to be able to let my dog off lead and if i see other dog or somebody coming young or adult i put here back on the lead till they pass. i do think it suck that we wont be able to do that now. i can stuggle wee walking and let my dog off lead when i can is a great help for her to get ecxercise she needs now so what should i do now, i no many disable people that exercise their dogs be letting them off lead it really not fair on them, plus the dogs love being off lead so it is also unfair on dogs as they love run around, who wins be the new rule off on dogs have to stay on leads?

I think its hard to judge whether a dog coming towards you is a good dog or not. I think all dogs in pedestrian areas should be kept on leads for the safety of dogs and other pedestrians.

I do however think people (owners and non-owners) need a bit more common sense when approaching dogs. Not all humans are the same nor are dogs. Approach dogs with caution and with the consent of the owner.

Saying that - I agree - there should be allocated "doggy" spaces if we're to restrict dogs and their owners freedoms.
