Betty is missing .... please help us find her

Missing Since: 2008-05-20

Details: Betty has been missing since 20 May 2008 and we are very worried about her.

She is nearly 4 years old, she is a long haired tortoiseshell and white cat. She is dressed and microchipped.

Betty went missing in the Hilton area of Aberdeen. Please keep your eyes out for a cat that looks like Betty. The photo was taken back when she was just a kitten so she is bigger now but her colouring is the same.

Please let their owner know if you have seen her as she is a much loved family pet.

Contact PAWSS by email or telephone their owner on 01224 495364 (evening) or 01224 523534 (daytime).

If you have any information, please email us at pawss.rescue@gmail.com.

Pepper makes the news........

Pepper’s Life Changing experience was highlighted yesterday in the Evening Express although, unfortunately her story was not reported as accurately as we would have liked.

Pepper is a very lucky cat who was saved from destruction by a quick thinking receptionist at Ardene House.

Literally minutes before she was to be put down at the vets the receptionist gave out PAWSS details. Seconds later, we received a desperate call from a relative of the owner, who was at the surgery waiting for the appointment, asking if we could take her into care.

Although we have been on the go for a number of years in Aberdeen, we are not widely known by everyone and sometimes people only find out about us at the last minute; which is what happened in this instance.

Pepper had no health problems at all, she just couldn’t live with the owners other cat, as they fought constantly. The owner had been pushed into making a very difficult decision and felt there were no other options.

Fortunately PAWSS was able to offer one last option and agreed that we would try to help if they could give us a few hours to get in touch with our volunteers. What followed was a mad rush, calling round all our volunteers and this eventually led to Nykohla offering a temporary foster placement in her home.

The strangest thing being if Nykohla hadn't been off of work that day to attend a funeral, Peppers story would have had a very different ending. If you believe in fate then you will know that it was shining down on Pepper that day.

We are all really surprised that we have had no interest in Pepper yet, she is such a loveable, cuddly cat who would make a fantastic companion to any person, couple or older family. Pepper loves all her home comforts and lives happiest as an indoor cat. At only 9 years of ages she is still young and playful with many years ahead of her.

Pepper has been in care since the end of April and we are hoping a good home can be found soon.

To Blog or Not to Blog...

We at PAWSS are always thinking of ways to improve the services we provide both online and in our day to day rescue work and one of the ways we have been thinking of improving our website is to create a place where you can interact with us at PAWSS by giving us your comments and thoughts.

Obviously a blog or community page is a great way to do this but with so many to choose from we wanted you to have a say in the process.

To tell us your thoughts why not nip over to our temporary blog at Blogspot and take our poll

Two 4 year old cats urgently need a new home...

Due to their owners new job these two cats are in need of a new home.

Del-boy(male) and Rodney(female) are both quite long haired with bushy tails, (possibly a bit of Maine Coon in them).

Del-boy is a tortoise shell and Rodney is grey and black with white paws and chest. They are very friendly and have no fear of strangers. They like children also.

Both cats have been house cats all their lives because their owner lives in the centre of town but their owner is confident they would take to going outside easily and would enjoy it.

Del-Boy and Rodney like nothing more than cuddling up to people and love lots of TLC. Del-boy is a bit lazier than Rodney, He is very loving and likes to lie in peoples laps and be stroked as much as possible. Rodney likes to play fetch and does it very well, almost as good as a dog.

Their owner thinks they would be best suited to a home where they can go out safely but also come in for cuddles and TLC.

These cats need a new home urgently as their owner could be called offshore at any moment. Please email us if you have a home or foster space to offer these lovely cats

Fund-raising news.....more fund-raising coming soon...

Fund-raising news.....more fund-raising coming soon

It's now half way through the year and we have made a good start to raising the funds that we need to keep PAWSS running each year.

So far this year several activities have helped us raise some much needed funds. - a "name that town" quiz, organised by a keen supporter of PAWSS, raised over £100, Suzanne took part in a Skydive last month, raising over £100 each for PAWSS and the Rubislaw Ward and we have organised several car boot sales and sold a few items through local notices, raising just over £150.

This month one of our members, Pam, is crafting some excellent pet gifts (see picture). These are luxury, hand made, pet hammocks suitable for rats, chinchillas, ferrets and other small pets. Pam will shortly be selling these hammocks to raise funds for PAWSS, so drop us an email for more information on these fantastic hammocks.

Although we have made a good start to our fund-raising, there is still so much more to do; so there will be more sales through the year, a raffle, a few more competitions and hopefully a big fund-raiser at Christmas.

We need to raise over £2,000.00 each year to pay for vets bills, food, bedding, treats and replacing old and worn out hutches or cages, so if you have any good fund-raising ideas or would like to help us organise some more fund-raising activities why not drop us an email

Keep checking our website for more fund-raising news.
